The Office of Assessment and Testing offers a broad range of testing services to the MSU Denver student body. All first-time university students are required to take a series of placement exams before registering for their first-semester classes if their ACT or SAT scores are below departmental cutoff scores. Transfer and adult students are also required to take one or all of the exams if they do not have the appropriate transfer credits. The exams measure university entry-level skills in reading, writing and mathematics. The scores are used by advisers to help determine the selection of appropriate courses.
In addition to initial placement exams for new students, many other testing services are offered through the Office of Assessment and Testing. These include: American College Testing (ACT) National and Residual Programs, makeup examination services, test proctoring services for online courses and CLEP examinations for university credit.
