Understanding Tuition and Fees
Once a student has finished registering for classes, the Office of Student Accounts will send a registration confirmation. This form lists all classes for which students are registered. It also indicates how much money has been paid or is still owed. For more information on the tuition and fee schedule, refer to our website.
College Opportunity Fund (COF)
Colorado residents planning to attend MSU Denver, any public Colorado college or university, or participating private institution must sign up for the College Opportunity Fund (COF). COF provides a stipend to eligible undergraduate students for higher education. If you are an in-state undergraduate attending a public institution, the state pays part of your tuition directly to the university. The bill you pay is just the student portion. Every Colorado resident must authorize payment of the state contribution, called a “stipend.” If you don’t sign up, you will have to pay the total in-state tuition, both your share and the state’s. For more information, please contact the Office of the Bursar.
Tuition Classification
On the application for admission, students are asked several questions, such as “When did you begin living in Colorado?” and “When did you get your driver’s license?” Answers to these questions establish residency status for tuition purposes. Out-of-state students pay higher tuition than in-state students, and they are not eligible for the COF stipend. Students who initially enroll as out-of-state students and became Colorado residents must petition MSU Denver (through the Office of the Registrar) for a change of status. Tuition and fees are updated annually. See the current online class schedule for updates to the tuition and fees schedule.
The following is a breakdown of the mandatory student fees assessed each semester depending on type of enrollment and number of credits of enrollment, with descriptions of each of these fees and how they are used.
