The Center for Urban Connections strives to strengthen the ties between MSU Denver and Denver communities. We promote programs, events, volunteer opportunities and initiatives that further the educational mission of the university while benefiting the common good.

UCAN Serve

The AmeriCorps UCAN Serve program provides scholarships/education awards in exchange for unpaid service to the community, such as internships, student teaching, practical, clinical rotations and volunteer service. Award amounts can be up to $2,675 depending on the number of service hours performed. The program supports students who engage in meaningful service to address critical needs in local communities.

Applications for the program are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis until all of the available spots are filled. Please visit the Center for Urban Connections website for more information and application materials.

Student Service Club

The SSC is the student programming heart of the CUC. In addition to providing leadership for Alternative Spring Break and the Service Grant Program, the SSC provides guidance for awareness and service campaigns over the academic year.

Alternative Spring Break

Looking for a new spring break experience? The Student Service Club sponsors our Alternative Spring Break trip each year. We spend the week assisting a local community organization. This is an immersive experience with group lodging, dining, service and activities throughout the week. In 2010 and 2011, the SSC assisted the African Community Center, a local refugee resettlement agency, in job skills and English language classes. Have an impact in your local community!
