Technology Support Services at MSU Denver is committed to providing students with state-of-the-art technology and technology services. As a student at MSU Denver, you are provided with the opportunity to fully explore the use of information technology. Computers will play a large role in your education and future whether you choose to be a writer, composer, doctor or entrepreneur. At MSU Denver, you have access to the most current technologies available in all the computer laboratories on campus. There are a variety of labs available, ranging from those with very specialized software, such as engineering or computer graphics, to those equipped with the more general and popular software packages. Technology Support Services also provides many services online through the ConnectU portal. These services include Gmail for students, accessible anytime, anywhere you have Internet access. Additional features of ConnectU include registration, grades, transcripts, calendars, campus announcements, course tools and more. See the section titled “ConnectU Portal Account” for additional information.
ConnectU Portal Account
Every student enrolled at MSU Denver is given a ConnectU portal account. This account provides students with access to email, registration, grades, transcripts, calendars, campus announcements, course tools and more. It is important for students to access their portal account on a regular basis to check for important information from faculty and university departments.
Students will retain their ConnectU account as long as they remain enrolled in at least one class per academic year. It is each student’s responsibility to know when their account will expire and to download any email or data before an account is disabled.
ConnectU is a Web-based portal that can be accessed through the Internet using a standard Web browser. For those students without Internet access, the university has open computer labs available. For lab locations and hours of operation, please visit www.msudenver.edu/studentlabs.
To access ConnectU, visit MSU Denver’s home page at www.msudenver.edu and click on the “ConnectU” icon, or go directly to http://connectu.msudenver.edu. A username and password are required to log on to the system. Students can look up their username and initial password by clicking on the link titled “Look up your initial ConnectU username/password.” Students will be forced to change their password after initial login.
Instructional Unix Account
Every student enrolled at MSU Denver has the option to activate a Unix-based computing account for services such as Web page hosting and programming development. Students keep their accounts as long as they remain enrolled in at least one class per academic year. It is each student’s responsibility to know when the account will expire and to download data and programs before the account is deleted.
Access is available in the campus computer labs or through your Internet service provider (ISP). Rowdy accounts can be accessed from home or anywhere there is access to the Web. For more information, go to www.msudenver.edu/rowdy.
Many courses are now requiring that students have a Rowdy account, so upon registration each semester, all students will receive a message that their Rowdy account has been created and will contain instructions for activating your account. If you do not need, or choose not to use, your Rowdy account that semester, please disregard the message.
Managing Your Rowdy Account
Rowdy accounts are enabled from a menu option within ConnectU. Go to http://connectu.msudenver.edu and select the “Registration/Banner Web” tab. See “ConnectU Portal Account” for details on how to log in to ConnectU. After logging into ConnectU, click on the link for “Rowdy Account Management Services.”
