Waiver & Compliance Standards 2012 - 2013
If you do not have outside health insurance or if your current health insurance does not meet all of the University's minimum compliance standards outlined below (which include Federally-mandated requirements), you should elect to purchase the University-offered plan in order to meet the University's requirement for health insurance.
If you have outside health insurance that meets all of the University's minimum compliance standards outlined below, you can submit your current insurance carrier information. An audit will determine whether your plan, in fact, meets each of the minimum compliance standards.
MSU Denver Insurance Waiver Compliance Standards: All submitted outside insurance plans must meet all of these standards. Students should NOT submit outside insurance plan information without confirming that the plan they submit meets each of these compliance standards:

1) Have an annual deductible of $1,500 or less (if it’s a family plan, members must have an individual deductible of $1,500 or less). |

2) Must be a “Comprehensive Health Insurance Plan” that covers medical care for both Injury and Illness, including outpatient AND inpatient medical services. (Non-Comprehensive policies such as Injury, Diagnosis, Cancer, Hospitalization or Catastrophic only plans DO NOT COMPLY). |

3) Mental Health Care coverage that includes both inpatient and outpatient benefits that have the following minimum levels: Inpatient - coverage of at least $10,000 or 45 days, Outpatient – coverage of at least $1,000 or 20 visits. |
