Human Nutrition - Dietetics
Students who attain a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Human Nutrition – Dietetics will be prepared for traditional, non-traditional, and entrepreneurial positions in heath care that utilize knowledge of nutrition. Professionals trained in nutrition have numerous career options due to the growing emphasis on nutrition, health and wellness.

One of the career options for a student majoring in Human Nutrition - Dietetics is to become a registered dietitian (RD). The Human Nutrition - Dietetics major includes a didactic program in dietetics (DPD) which has been granted Candidacy for Accreditation by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ASCEND), 120 South Riverside Plaza, Suite 2000, Chicago, IL 60606-6995, #312-899-0040 ext. 5400, acend@eatright.org. Students enrolled in the MSU Denver DPD program are considered students in an ASCEND accredited program. Completion of a DPD program is one step required in the process for becoming a registered dietitian. To become a registered dietitian, students must also have a bachelor's degree, apply for and complete an accredited internship program, and pass a national examination administered by the Commission in Dietetic Registration.
The mission of the DPD program at MSU Denver is to prepare diverse students from the Denver metropolitan area for successful careers in nutrition and dietetics by providing quality didactic education in the foundation knowledge and skills for dietitians that is culturally sensitive and instills a desire for life-long learning.

For information about admission to MSU Denver, cost of being a student, and the academic calendar see the MSU Denver homepage. Human Nutrition - Dietetics majors are required to enroll in certain classes that require lab fees and special equipment, such as a uniform and knives for culinary classes. The cost of these fees and equipment is about $400.00 for the degree program.
