Internship Title: Festival Production Intern

Description: The Colorado Dragon Boat Festival (CDBF), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, is a two-day festival that has become the largest pan-Asian celebration in Colorado. CDBF strengthens the Asian Pacific American communities while educating the public about the depth and breadth of these diverse communities through cultural education, performing arts and marketplace combined with the exciting international and ancient sport of dragon boat racing. Internship Summary: The Colorado Dragon Boat Festival intern will gain experience in event production, corporate sponsorship, marketing, public relations, and nonprofit management. This position will afford the opportunity to learn all aspects of producing a major annual festival. The intern will meet and develop important contacts with people in the events industry and gain valuable experience in the planning, production, and promotion of an annual event which draws over 100,000 attendees every year.
The Colorado Dragon Boat Festival intern will work closely with the CDBF Staff and the CDBF Operations Committee. The CDBF intern will also attend monthly and bimonthly planning meetings with the CDBF Operations Committee.
Qualifications:
- Graphic design experience a plus.
- Familiarity with Constant Contact and Wordpress a plus.
- A passion for the Festival’s mission and values and an awareness of and / or interest in Asian Pacific American culture.
- High degree of flexibility in a fast-paced work environment with the ability to prioritize, multi-task, and work with little supervision.
- Attention to detail and deadlines; will organized and highly dependable.
- Technological savvy a plus with the ability to troubleshoot issues, learn new software and seek out new technologies to streamline processes.
- Access to reliable transportation and proof of up-to-date auto liability insurance.
Time Schedule: Mid-March through the first week of August. 15 – 25 hours per week with occasional evenings and weekend hours depending on festival production cycle, meetings and events scheduled. Must be available to work long hours the entire event weekend (Julyl 27th and 28th) including the set-up day before (July 26th). The intern will also be expected to work one week after the Colorado Dragon Boat Festival to help with closing duties.

Job Title: State Capitol Guide

Description: Student Capitol Guides
Guides conduct tours, manage different stations, and make sales. Guides give two kinds of tours: historical and attic/dome. The historical tour is a 45-minute walk throughout the first, second, and third floors of the capitol with information on capitol construction, materials used, capitol architecture, executive branch, legislative process, etc. The attic/dome tour is a 99-step clip to the top of the building with a walk through Mr. Brown’s Attic – a museum with capitol history highlights and insights, and a 360-degree view of downtown Denver from the dome observation deck. Other responsibilities include managing the phone desk to answer questions and make reservations, work at the information desk to advise visitors on the nearby historic venues, museums and restaurants, and work at the gift shop to make souvenir sales. Guides are expected to demonstrate outstanding customer service, clear and loud public speaking, timeliness, and nonpartisanship.

Must have interest in Colorado history and government. This can be a physically challenging position. Attendant is required to climb and descend a number of stairs several times per shift.
