Requirements for Admission to the Athletic Training Program

Students must meet the below application criteria to continue in the Athletic Training Education Program:

  1. Indicate a desire to continue in the Athletic Training Education Program by submitting a completed Atheltic Training Education Program Continuation Intent Form

  2. Have completed BIO 1080, BIO 1090, HPS 1623, and HPS 2060 with a grade of "C" or better

  3. Have completed a minimum of 12 semester hours with a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 or higher on a 4-point scale, or 3.0 or better in the last 30 credit hours completed

  4. Write and submit a brief summary of professional goals and objectives, indicating sincere interest and commitment in athletic training as a profession

  5. Obtain and submit three character reference letters.  One letter should be from a college faculty member (MSU Denver athletic training faculty are excluded)

  6. Have proof of current immunizations for DPT, MMR, TB, and hepatitis B (or HBV declination)

  7. Submit a signed statement indicating acknowledgment of the Athletic Training Education Program continuation criteria and policies and procedures.

  8. Provide proof of current CPR

Following submission of these materials, an interview will be scheduled with the Athletic Training Education Program faculty.

To be considered for admittance into the Athletic Training Education Program, current MSU Denver students must submit applications no later than March 1st to the Athletic Training Education Program director or clinical coordinator.  Transfer students must submit applications by May 15th.  MSU Denver students will be notified of their status in the Athletic Training Education Program by April 30th, and transfer students will be notified within two weeks of submitting their application.
