Vice President’s Office
The Vice President’s Office oversees a wide range of programs and activities within the Division of Institutional Advancement that are designed to achieve broad levels of support—financial, political and public—for the goals and priorities of Metro State.
The goal of supporting the College’s efforts to raise resources and build relationships is shared across the division.
Carrie Besnette, Ph.D.

Dr. Carrie Besnette oversees Metro State’s development, communications, sponsored research and programs, and alumni relations departments.
Previously, as vice president of the Daniels Fund, Besnette headed the creation and implementation of the Daniels College Prep and Scholarship Program and instituted the Daniels Opportunity Awards. She was a “loaned executive” to Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper and to the Metro Denver Sports Commission.
Besnette serves on the boards of the Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce and Chamber Leadership Foundation, the Metro Denver Sports Commission and the Metro Denver Health and Wellness Commission. In 2006, she received Governor’s appointments to the Colorado Commission on Higher Education and the Colorado Blue Ribbon Commission on Health Care Reform.
In 2008, Besnette was chosen the 9NEWS Leader of the Year, and she has received the Denver Business Journal 40 Under Forty Award. She holds master’s and doctoral degrees from the University of California - Los Angeles and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Arizona.
