Congratulations on your decision to study abroad! Study abroad is one of the most enriching experiences during your undergraduate career. In addition to gaining valuable cultural and language skills, a study abroad experience will expose you to different ways of thinking and challenge you in new and unexpected ways. In addition to fulfilling academic coursework, students who study abroad become more adept in foreign languages, cross-cultural communications, and gain a new understanding and appreciation for the United States and its culture and government. Lastly, study abroad will provide you with memories and friendships that last a lifetime.
We look forward to working with you to identify and apply to study abroad programs and prepare for your journey.
5 Steps to Study Abroad
1) Make an Appointment with a Study Abroad Advisor
MSU Denver has numerous study abroad choices. A study abroad advisor will best explain the available options, requirements, application process and costs.
2) Research Your Program Options
- MSU Denver Programs
- Partnership Programs
- Service-Learning Oriented (volunteer, internships, etc.)
Your study abroad advisor will give you the best "tools" so that you can pick the program that is best for you.
3) Research Funding Options
- Financial Aid – Students can use their MSU Denver financial aid for both MSU Denver and Partnership Pograms.
- Scholarships – There are many outside scholarships available for study abroad.
4) APPLY
Depending on your study abroad, application deadlines and processes will vary.
5) Attend a Pre Departure Orientation
All students must attend a Pre Departure Orientation before going abroad. Pre Departure Orientations vary depending on the program. Students will be notified of which Pre Departure they need to attend.
