Welcome back! Below you will find some helpful information for your return to MSU Denver.

Transcripts

All transcripts from study abroad should be sent to

Paul Lee
Metropolitan State University of Denver, Admissions Office
CB 16,  PO Box 173362
Denver CO 80217-3362

Remember it can take up to 12 weeks before MSU Denver receives an official transcript from your study abroad.  Once your transcript is evaluated you will receive notification from Transcript Services.

Courses & Grades

Students will receive transfer credit for their time abroad.  Students will receive credit if they passed their courses with a C or higher.  After students receive credits, they will want to work with appropriate department chairs to make sure that the courses from abroad are properly placed in their CAPP report.

Financial Aid

All study abroad students who used financial aid and went on a partnership program will be placed on financial aid suspension or probation.  You will begin receiving email notifications from financial aid regarding the courses you “withdrew from” or “failed to take.”  When you receive these notifications, please remember to BREATHE.  We have procedures in place to alleviate this situation.  All students upon return must complete the Financial Aid Satisfactory Academic Progress Appeal (SAPAP) [ http://www.mscd.edu/financialaid/forms/ ] , and have a Verification of Completion letter from the program provider.

NOTE- Study Abroad Students must complete the paper-based form (not the online form), and the appeal should be delivered to Mr. Christopher Brown in Financial Aid

Building a Community

Metro’s Office of International Studies is looking to build a Study Abroad Alumni Community. By having a vibrant alumni community, we can help returning students adjust to being back home, integrate their time abroad into academic life and long-term goals, and help connect students with international programming in Denver.
The alumni community will also engage the college campus in a variety of events and workshops including:

- Regular Meetings
- Networking
- Support for Reverse Culture Shock
- Forum to share your experiences
-Photo contest
-Essay contest
-Classroom visits
-Student fairs

To have a successful alumni community we need committed and energetic students to take the lead and establish a student organization. We need four students and one advisor. We have the advisor and just need the students! If you are interested in starting an alumni group (or just joining once it’s established) please contact  Jennifer at studyabroad@msudenver.edu
