Accommodations
More that 95% of students live in AIFS accommodation as it is a great way to meet new people and make new friends. AIFS offers two different types of accommodation; homestay and apartment. It is the decision of the school as to what option to offer the students and they can opt to give the students a choice. AIFS staff work hard to create a welcoming environment whichever one they choose.
Student Apartments
All of the AIFS apartment buildings are based in central London; close to many tourist attractions and local amenities. Locations include the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea and the Marylebone area. All apartments are only a short bus or tube ride to the AIFS student center.
The students live in self contained flats with a lounge, bathroom, bedroom and fully equipped kitchen. (All flats come with bed linen). Most of the apartments house between 2 and 4 students with 2 students sharing a room. Also, the majority of the AIFS residences are home to an AIFS Resident Assistant who works in the AIFS student center. All of the RAs work hard to create a friendly and homely atmosphere.
Student Homestays
The majority of AIFS homestays are based in North London, with typical locations being Muswell Hill and Finsbury Park. All home stays are within an hour from the AIFS student center.
Many of the homestay families have been working with AIFS for a number of years and are accustomed to having students from the US. Most of the homestays house students in a twin room, although single rooms are available for an additional fee. All of the students are provided with breakfast from Monday – Friday and have access to the kitchen to make evening meals. This option is recommended for students who enjoy the security of family life.
