Verification of Identify

When an investigator puts his or her name on a research protocol, they are taking responsibility for the research being conducted ethically and in accordance with the IRB approval. The IRB wants to ensure that those whose names are on a Request for Review have read and approved the protocol submitted for review.

In the past, Primary Investigators were asked to sign the Request for Review. That process can slow down the submission and approval process because once the Request is signed it needs to be scanned before it can be attached to an email to be submitted.

As a result, MSU Denver IRB now uses an email verification of identify process. Once the Chair receives the Request, she will send an email to each investigator and Faculty Advisor who is listed on the Request asking for confirmation that they are knowledgeable about the research protocol described in the Request for Review and support the submission.

It is the hope of the MSU Denver IRB that this process will facilitate a quicker submission and response process.
