After receiving a B.A. in Spanish from Colorado College, Dr. Olmsted received his M.A. degree in Spanish from Middlebury College and his Ph.D. from the University of Colorado at Boulder. Dr. Olmsted has also taught at Purdue University, Regis University, and was a Peace Corp. Volunteer in Peru. He served on the Faculty of Metro State from 1976 to 2001 and was Chair of the department.
Teaching and Research Interests:
In addition to the Introductory level Spanish language courses taught in the Multimedia Classrooms of the Plaza Building and other Intermediate and Advanced level courses, his interests include Spanish Penninsular Literature, Spanish drama, the Contemporary Spanish Novel and Spanish Culture and Civilization. Dr. Olmsted wrote his dissertation on Twentieth Century Spanish Drama.
Professional Affiliations:
He is active in the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese (AATSP) and the Colorado Congress of Foreign Language Teachers (CCFLT). He is also a member of Sigma Delta Phi, the national Hispanic honorary association.
