David Conde, Ph.D.

Education and Professional Experience:
Dr. Conde received his B.A. degree in Spanish Education from the University of Northern Colorado and the M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in Latin American Literature from the University of Kansas. His postdoctoral work includes study in Higher Education Administration at the University of Northern Colorado and on Chicano Literature at the University of New Mexico. He was a Language and Education faculty member as well as Program Development Specialist at the University of Southern Colorado. After serving as Division Chair at New Mexico Highlands University, Dr. Conde was Associate Dean, Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs and Assistant to the President for Institutional Development at Metro State. He was the founding Director of the
MSCD Language and Culture Institute, with programs in Mexico and Central America. He served as Chair of the Department of Modern Languages from 1989 to 1997, before returning to Academic Affairs.

Teaching and Research Interests:
An advocate of integrating technology into instruction, Dr. Conde acquired state funding for the Multimedia Classrooms
of the Plaza Building. His other interests included active involvement in Chicana/Chicano Studies, in the Bilingual English Spanish Telecommunication Network (BESTNet) and research on Chicana/Chicano literature, especially the Latin American novel.

Professional Affiliations:
He was an active member in the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese (AATSP), the Colorado Congress of Foreign Language Teachers (CCFLT), the Colorado Council of International Organizations, the Hispanic Association of College and Universities (HACU), Phi Sigma Iota - the National Foreign Language Honor Society, Sigma Delta Pi - the National Spanish Language Honor Society, Kappa Delta Pi - the National Education Honor Society the American Council of Teachers of Foreign Languages (ACTFL), the Modern Language Association (MLA) and the Latin National Modern Language Association (LNMLA).
