Ten Frequently Asked Questions 1.
Q: Who Can Access MetroConnect? A: Currently,
all full- and part-time faculty, staff and students at Metro State College can
log in to MetroConnect. Emeritus staff can request to continue service through
MetroConnect and will be handled on an individual basis as policy allows. Return

Q: What is my user name and initial password? A:
When you first access the MetroConnect portal you will have the option to look
up your portal username and password. Return

Q: How will I get access to MetroConnect? A:
All you will need is your portal username (your Metro e-mail address) and login
password. You will have a chance to lookup your portal username (your Metro e-mail
address) and initial password as soon as you log in. You will access by either:
Connecting directly to
metroconnect.mscd.edu (http://metroconnect.mscd.edu).
OR Clicking on the MetroConnect logo on the college's home page (http://www.mscd.edu).
All currently used passwords
will be reset on July 7. Return

Q: Will my class e-mail lists continue to work? A:
All college e-mail, including
class lists, will be processed through the portal. To
access your class e-mail list(s) on July 7th, login to MetroConnect at metroconnect.mscd.edu.
Click the "My Courses" tab and a list of your current courses will be
displayed. Select the appropriate course and the email options will be displayed.
Faculty can email a class by selecting "E-mail Class" under "Course
Tools." Students will receive their class e-mail in their MetroConnect e-mail
inbox. Messages boards and chat will also be provided for each course. For

5. Q: Will the MetroConnect portal
replace the main mscd.edu site? A: No. The focus
of the MetroConnect portal is to let you customize and access information that
is personalized to your preferences and interests. The purpose of a general site,
such as the mscd.edu home page, is to provide information to a broad audience.

Q: Can I customize my layout? A: You are able
to change the layout and information displayed on the system tabs, add new tabs,
remove or add channels to new or existing tabs, or update the number of columns
on a given tab and the order of channels that it contains. Return

Q: Where do I get help?
A: If you are having
trouble logging in to the portal, call the Help Desk at 1-877-35AskIT (1-877-352-7548) or visit www.mscd.edu/AskIT
If you cannot figure out how to access MetroConnect
after trying these other options, you may ask your department administrative staff
or a staff member at the Scholarship Center in Central Classroom (CN 120) for
help in initially logging in. Return

Q: What if I don't have a computer or internet access at home? A:
Metro State faculty and students have access to 10 open computer labs on campus
and 17 department computer labs with complete and free Internet access. For information

"Access to MetroConnect." Student technology fees pay for this access. Metro
State staff member's, have access to a computer through their departments. If

Q: What will Metro Connect provide? A: MetroConnect
will provide you easy access to the services you use as a faculty, will be the
main source of communications with the college and the main source of information
on your personnel records. It can provide additional features such as group functions
and live chat opportunities with classes. You will ness out on some important
services and information available through the portal if you don't use it, or
at least visit it daily, such as: Personal
announcements: Announcements directed solely to you as a faculty member. These
announcements will include important information regarding your college news,
polices, procedures and deadlines. Campus-wide
announcements: General campus announcements, such as campus and parking lot closures,
with an opportunity to "subscribe" to targeted calendars, such as arts,
athletics and student life. Administrative
Services: Links to important school services provided by various college departments,
such as access to your personnel records through Banner Web, class lists and the
dynamic Online Class Schedule - 24/7 up-to-date paperless course search system.
Free E-mail: All faculty members received a free
e-mail account and the opportunity to have your other e-mail accounts forwarded
to MetroConnect for easy access. Return

Q: Will I be able to forward my e-mail to outside the portal? A:
E-mail cannot be automatically forwarded through the portal's mail system to another
system. As the college has adopted e-mail as the official means of communicating
with faculty, staff, and students, accounts will be provided and supported for
all users within the mscd.edu mail system. This also promotes greater reliability
as well as privacy and security of e-mail communications at the institution.
