Metro State is Rising

As one of the nation’s preeminent public urban institutions, the time has come for Metropolitan State College of Denver to have its own, unique identity on the Auraria Campus—the Metro State Neighborhood.

The Metro State Neighborhood

The Metro State Neighborhood will give the College the visibility it deserves—and it will enhance the value of a bachelor’s or master’s degree from Metro State.
  • The first building in the Metro State Neighborhood will be the Student Success Building, which broke ground in December 2010. Students voted to increase their fees to pay for the building, which will house all student support services in one convenient location.

  • The Hotel and Hospitality Learning Center, one of only ten teaching hotels on a college campus in the country, broke ground on March 31, 2011. It is expected to open in fall 2012.

  • The Auraria Science Building addition and renovation, completed in August 2010, will expand Metro State’s role as the leader in STEM education for students of color.

  • The Center for Visual Art moved to its new home in the Santa Fe Art District in June 2010.

  • Metro State will gain greater visibility along the southern edge of the Auraria Campus and help improve the area for the surrounding community when it builds new athletics fields south of Colfax Ave. and west of Rio Ct.
