MLK Peace Award
Presented annually at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Peace Breakfast, the MLK Peace Awards honor Dr. King’s revered vision for civil rights and social change. These prestigious awards celebrate members of our community that share Dr. King’s dedication to peace, justice, and compassion for all people through community activism that extends beyond one’s job description.
MSU Denver students, faculty, staff and community members (both on and off campus) are eligible for nomination. Nominations received should demonstrate the individual’s commitment to further Dr. King’s life-long vision.
Nominations should address each of the following points:
- Community Activism: In what ways is the individual involved with the community? How do those actions promote peace, justice and compassion for all people?
- Advocacy: For whom is the individual advocating through his/her community involvement? How wide is this individual’s scope?
- Depth of Involvement: How long has the individual been committed to his/her cause(s)? To what extent is the individual involved with the cause(s)? In what ways is the individual’s dedication to the cause(s) evident?
