Account Types
There are various types of accounts on campus that users log into and there is often confusion involving "logging in". For us to help you we need to know what type of account you are trying to log into.
ConnectU
This is an account that all current students, faculty and staff have and you can access this account either on or off campus and you can access your e-mail, personal records, financial information, grades, etc. by logging into ConnectU. ConnectU accounts are created automatically by the HR department for employees or by "Admissions & Records" for students, once all required information has been processed by either the HR department or A&R.
Online Courses
If you are taking an "Online Class" you will need this information: For Online Class Problems contact: Metro Ask-IT Help Desk or call 1-877-352-7548 (1-877-35AskIT) 24 Hours a day 7 days a week.
Admin
To boot up a PC computer in an office on campus, other than a computer lab and log in you will need an "Admin" account, also known as an "NT" account. NT accounts are not created automatically. To obtain an NT account you have to have a need for one. If you are an employee such as faculty or staff the head of your department has to request an "Admin or NT" account by contacting the Metro State Helpdesk at 1-877-35AskIT (1-877-352-7548) or visit www.mscd.edu/AskIT with your legal name and your username (NID) and your employee ID number which starts with 900, also include the users date of birth and your office phone number. Students who are a "work-study" and who need an NT account will need to have the same type of e-mail with the same information sent by their supervisor to the helpdesk.
Banner Accounts
A Banner Account is required to log into the campus Banner database using the Red Icon for Banner Prod or Banner Test. To obtain a Banner account you first must complete the Banner on line training: and then your supervisor needs to contact the Metro State Helpdesk at 1-877-35AskIT (1-877-352-7548) or visit www.mscd.edu/AskIT with your legal name and your username (NID) and your employee ID number which starts with 900 requesting a Banner Account for you.
Academia Accounts
This type of account is required to log in on a lab PC. To get help logging into a lab PC you will have to contact the "Lab Tech" at the lab you are in. This applies to both students and faculty members.
Rowdy Accounts
This type of account is required to log into the Rowdy / UNIX server. Rowdy is the name of the campus Unix server. A Rowdy account is required for classes that require the use of the UNIX server and for posting personal websites. To activate your Rowdy account log into your ConnectU account and go to the Banner Web options, select Rowdy Account Management and read the instructions. If you want to change your Rowdy account password you should select Forgot Password rather than Change Password. It seems to work better.
Sun Account
Sun accounts are required to log into a computer in the "Sun" lab. To get a Sun Account your instructor or supervisor needs to contact the Metro State Helpdesk at 1-877-35AskIT (1-877-352-7548) or visit www.mscd.edu/AskIT with their office phone extension and your legal name, your username (NID), your employee ID number which starts with 900, and your date of birth.
Titan, Mars accounts
These are special accounts that you must have a need for and your supervisor will need to contact the Metro State Helpdesk at 1-877-35AskIT (1-877-352-7548) or visit www.mscd.edu/AskIT to request a mars or a Titan account to with their office phone extension and your legal name, your username (NID), your employee ID number which starts with 900, and your date of birth..
