Vision and Mission

Vision

The Metropolitan State College of Denver Department of Music will achieve prominence as one of the top baccalaureate music programs in the region. This vision challenges the faculty, staff, and administration to continue to create a strong educational and learning environment for our students, while developing a strong collaboration among all of Metro State’s performing and visual arts programs (music, art, and theatre).

Mission Statement

The Department of Music at Metropolitan State College of Denver is committed to preserving and advancing the values and traditions of the art of music by offering strong academic programs centered in the music of Western Europe and the United States as well as other diverse musics. The Department promotes the development of the disciplined musician through the integration of intellectual, technological, and communication skills combined with hearing, composing, conducting, and performing.

To promote excellence in the arts for Metro State students and the metropolitan community of Denver, the Department sponsors a rich variety of learning experiences including classes, recitals, concerts, workshops, clinics, master classes, symposia, lectures, and music theatre productions.
