The Department of Music at Metropolitan State College of Denver is pleased to announce the Third Annual Vocal Arts Competition for Young Colorado Musicians, October 31- November 1, 2008.
The Vocal Arts Competition for Young Colorado Musicians is dedicated to providing opportunities for the artistic development of singers from high schools, colleges and graduate school in Colorado. This event is designed to practice performance skills, receive valuable feedback, participate and observe professional coaching, and perform in a concert setting.
We have had top-notch international artists as guest clinicians and judges who give master classes and lectures which include: Gabriel Dobner, pianist and vocal coach; Judith Christin, mezzo soprano; Mutsumi Moteki, vocal coach; Patti Peterson, vocal pedagogue; Nicholas McCarthy, opera coach; MB Krueger, mezzo soprano; Gene Roberts, tenor; Bradley Thompson, baritone; and Roberto DeSimone among many others.
The competition will take place in the beautiful Kenneth King Academic and Performing Arts Center located on the Auraria Campus in Downtown Denver. The participants will have the opportunity to compete for cash prizes in divisions appropriate to their level of study. The winners in each division will receive professional master class coaching to fine tune their performance for the competition’s culminating concert on November 1 at 4:00 pm in the King Center Concert Hall. This concert is free and open to the public.
