Peter Cooper grew up near Chicago, where, after taking two years of piano lessons, he decided to join the school band in fifth grade. Continuing on a traditional educational music path, Peter enjoyed playing in a national high school honors band and attending the National Music Camp in Interlochen, Michigan. Because of this exposure, he decided to follow this musical path through Oberlin and Juilliard, eventually ending up in Mexico City playing and recording with a full-time orchestra. However, that was bound to end sometime, so he took the opportunity of auditioning for the Timpani position with the Colorado Springs Philharmonic in 1987, and has lived and worked as a professional musician in the Colorado Front Range ever since.
