Brian Dean is a versatile pianist, composer, arranger and pedagogue originally from Yakima, Washington. Brian serves on the faculty at MSU Denver as a staff accompanist and instructor. Brian can be seen performing throughout the Denver metro area in both jazz and classical idioms, and has performed with several prominent artists throughout the United States and Canada. As a jazz composer, Brian’s works have been performed by several ensembles throughout the United States and have been featured at national IAJE, MENC and ACDA conventions. In 2010 Brian released his debut album as the leader of a piano trio—Waiting for Answers. Brian holds a Bachelor's degree in Music from Central Washington University, a Master's in Jazz Pedagogy from the University of Miami, and a Doctorate in Jazz Studies from the University of Colorado where he was also graduate teaching assistant.
