Clarinetist, Gregory Dufford, joined the music faculty at Metropolitan State University of Denver in 2000, where he is currently Assistant Professor. He holds a Bachelor of Music Education and Master of Music in Clarinet Performance from San Francisco State University. Following graduation, the San Francisco Bay Area presented him with a multitude of opportunities to perform and teach. As Prinicipal Clarinetist of the San Francisco Chamber Orchestra, Sinfonia San Francisco, and the San Francisco Chamber Symphony, Mr. Dufford was often a featured soloist. He was a founding member of other highly regarded Bay Area chamber music ensembles including the Anchor Chamber Players (which performed more than 160 pieces of chamber music during its 15 year tenure), the Stanford Woodwind Quintet and the Beaumont Ensemble. He was privileged to expand his range of musical expertise as Principal Clarinetist with the nationally recognized San Francisco Contemporary Music Players for 13 years. During these years in San Francisco, Mr. Dufford was also the clarinet instructor at both Stanford University and San Francisco State University. As clarinetist/bass clarinetist for the San Francisco Opera from 1980 to 1998, Mr. Dufford has worked with many of the world’s most eminent artists and conductors; and they have all contributed to his love and knowledge of music, which he continually aspires to share with his students.
