Thais Nicolau is originally from Brazil and received her undergraduate degree in piano performance at the Universidade Estadual de Campinas. She completed her Master’s Degree in Piano Performance at the University of North Dakota and is currently a Doctoral Candidate in the Piano Performance program at the University of Northern Colorado.
Thais has performed as a soloist and collaborator in the academic and community settings. Besides successful local performances, she has performed in several places in the United States, and abroad, such as in Brazil, Cuba, and France. As a researcher Thais has presented articles in National and International conferences discussing topics on music history, performance practice, and piano pedagogy.
Thais teaches private piano lessons to children and adults of all ages. As a graduate assistant, she taught class piano and private piano lessons for graduate and undergraduate students. She is currently an affiliate faculty at the Metropolitan State University of Denver, where she works as an accompanist.
