Christopher Thompson is currently a member of the collaborative piano faculty at Metropolitan State University of Denver. Active as a collaborative pianist for the past 12 years, he has accompanied numerous singers and instrumentalists in recitals at the University of Colorado-Boulder College of Music, University of Denver Lamont School of Music, Northwestern University School of Music, DePaul University School of Music, Chicago College of Performing Arts, Harper College, and North Central College.
Professional engagements as a pianist and chamber musician have included performances at Grand Teton Music Festival, Aspen Music Festival, Music Academy of the West, Linton Chamber Music Series in Cincinnati, Dame Myra Hess Series at the Chicago Cultural Center, Civic Orchestra of Chicago Chamber Ensembles, Music Institute of Chicago, Chicago Chamber Musicians, WFMT, and at Weill Recital Hall in NYC. He has performed with such notable artists as flutists William Bennett and Denis Bouriakov, baritone Robert Sims, sopranos Elizabeth Norman and Erin Wall, and tenor Joseph Kaiser.
He has performed in master classes given by Marilyn Horne, Thomas Hampson, Frank Lopardo, Warren Jones, Paula Robison, and William Bennett, among others. He worked as a coach and accompanist for Opera Colorado, El Paso Opera, Chicago Opera Theater, and was on the faculty of the National High School Music Institute (Northwestern University) from 2008-2010.
Mr. Thompson received a M.M. in performance from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, and a B.M. in performance from Oberlin Conservatory. He was also a fellowship student at Aspen Music School and the Music Academy of the West. His teachers have included Joseph Schwartz, John Perry, Michael Chertock, Warren Jones, and Anne Epperson.
