Trudi Wright earned her Ph.D. in musicology at the University of Colorado in 2010 and serves as an affiliate faculty member at Metropolitan State University of Denver, University of Colorado, and Arapahoe Community College. As an active musicologist, Wright has presented research based on her dissertation, "Labor Takes the Stage: A Musical and Social Analysis of Pins and Needles (1937-1941)" at regional and national meetings of the Society for American Music, American Musicological Society, and College Music Society. Most recently she has written articles on musical theater, opera, and choral music for The New Grove Dictionary of American Music, second edition (Oxford University Press), and is under contract with Greenwood Press for her article, "Music of the Black Theatre," to be included in their forthcoming Encyclopedia of African American Music. In 2010 Wright was awarded an educational grant from the College Music Society to continue her community engagement program in sacred music history for adults at Trinity United Methodist Church, Denver, where she also serves as Youth Choir Director.
