Metro State educates more undergraduate Coloradans, including more students of color, than any other institution in the state. Providing high-quality academics to our students is part of our mission, and we work hard to effectively position the College, its students and alumni for continued success.
The Metro State Board of Trustees (BOT) undertook our Strategic Name Initiative in 2010 to explore how a name change would increase the value of our bachelor’s and master’s degrees, give students and alumni a competitive edge in today’s job market and eliminate confusion prospective employers have about Metro State’s identity as a community college or four-year institution.
On Feb. 2, 2012, the Board of Trustees voted to change the institution's name to Metropolitan State University of Denver.
