Investing in a name change

What value will a name change bring?

Changing Metro State’s name to more accurately reflect the value of education our students receive is an investment in the future of our students, our institution and our city and state.  Colorado’s economy is challenging us to think innovatively about ways to create jobs and connect employers with the talented workforce here in Colorado, many of whom are Metro State graduates (75 percent of our graduates remain in Colorado).

By enhancing the market perception of our brand and the value of our degrees—by helping prepare even more people for the demands of difficult-to-fill 21st century jobs—we are serving as a workforce development engine in the heart of the city and fueling Colorado’s economy.

How will the College invest in a new name?

The name change will not be funded by student fees. Any cost associated with a name change will be incorporated into standard annual expenses for replacing ongoing communications materials such as letterhead, collateral materials, website, etc. In addition, we will seek private funding, specifically to pay for costs associated with the name change that go beyond standard annual expenses.
