The Metro State
Hotel and Hotel Learning Center
The Hotel and Hotel Learning Center (HLC) at Metropolitan State College of Denver will offer the Denver community two assets: a fully functioning flagged hotel and a learning laboratory for students.
When completed in 2012, the HLC will be the showcase for Metro State’s renowned Department of Hospitality, Tourism and Events, and, for its visitors, the gateway to the College, the Auraria Campus and the city of Denver.
Located in the heart of Denver at the corner of Speer Blvd. and Auraria Pkwy., the HLC is expected to include an estimated 180 rooms, conference facilities and more than 21,000 square feet of academic space, including classrooms, specialty learning labs and faculty offices. The hotel will be run by the professional hotel management firm, Sage Hospitality, and will provide hands-on training opportunities for students in Metro State’s HTE department.
A public/private partnership, the developer will be responsible for all costs associated with the development of the hotel. Metro State has instituted a capital campaign to cover the portion of costs associated with the learning center (academic space). The College is offering naming opportunities for the learning center and for the hotel’s various public spaces and facilities as well as key functional components. (If interested in learning more about donating to the HLC project, please contact the Metro State Development Office at 303.556. 8424.)
