Metro State Board approves tuition increase
DENVER –Metropolitan State College of Denver Board of Trustees unanimously approved a tuition increase for residents and non-residents at their meeting today.
Effective fall 2009, the student share of tuition for residents will increase by $9.80 per credit hour and nonresident students will increase by $42.50 per credit hour. For a full-time student (or 15 credit hours), the resident tuition will be $1,425 per semester and
$6,171.60 for non-resident students.
“Considering the nature of our students and the kind of programs necessary for our urban service area,” says Metro State President Stephen Jordan. “We need to say that tuition is going to be a critical component of our funding for years to come.”
Metro State is Colorado’s leader in educating in-state undergraduates and is one of the largest four-year public colleges in the nation. The College enrolls the highest number of students of color among four-year colleges in the state. It boasts 64,400 alumni, with the bulk of them remaining in Colorado after graduation.
The increase represents the maximum approved by the legislature.
