Award-winning photographer and Metro State Journalism Assistant Professor Kenn Bisio has captured images of five U.S. presidents while they were in the Oval Office, countless U.S. Opens, and four Super Bowls - with his first featuring the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl XII in 1977.

2008 DNC host committee president Elbra Wedgeworth to address College’s largest fall graduating class
Elbra Wedgeworth, former Denver City Council president and current president of the Denver 2008 Democratic National Convention host committee, will address a record 1,064 graduates at Metropolitan State College of Denver’s commencement Sunday, Dec. 16 at 2 p.m. at the Colorado Convention Center.

BOT passes pay-for-performance plan; phases in implementation
The Board of Trustees unanimously passed a motion by Trustee Michelle Lucero to phase in the implementation of the faculty pay-for-performance (P4P) plan. The decision came at the board’s regular December meeting where a vote on the plan was expected.

Pay for Performance vote reveals true exercise in shared governance
On Dec. 5, the Board of Trustees (BOT) will decide whether to implement a new Pay for Performance (P4P) system where faculty could earn up to $10,000 above their salary. Before making their decision, they will hear from Faculty Senate President Hal Nees on how the faculty would like to move forward.

Jordan elected chair of NCAA Presidents Council
President Stephen Jordan has been elected chair of the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division II Presidents Council. He was appointed to the council by the NCAA in April 2007.

FAA awards air traffic controller program at Metro State
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has awarded Metropolitan State College of Denver the highly coveted Air Traffic Controller Collegiate Training Initiative (AT-CTI) designation for its Aviation and Aerospace Science Department.

Aerospace program upgrades student experiences with donated technology
A recent donation of $1.5 million in aviation software will go a long way in preparing aerospace science students at Metropolitan State College of Denver to work in Colorado’s aerospace industry, the second-largest space economy in the nation.
