Graduating Senior Nick Owens is more than ‘Nugget’ of inspiration
An inspiration in the community and a motivated student in the classroom, 25-year-old speech communication major Nick Owens has overcome the many physical challenges of spina bifida, including more than 30 operations, to become a philanthropist, member of the Denver Nuggets organization and a college graduate.

Student Support Services receives $1.4 million renewal grant
The Student Support Services (SSS) program at Metropolitan State College of Denver received word last week that it will receive a five-year, $1.4 million grant from the U.S. Department of Education to continue offering support services to students who are the first generation in their families to attend college, are low–income or have a disability. The grant is effective Sept. 1, 2010.
