Academic Advising

Academic Advising is available to provide accurate information and informed guidance in the most efficient, accessible and comprehensive manner possible.  Advising is a form of teaching which facilitates the development of self-awareness and life-planning skills on the part of advisees.

Assessment and Testing

The mission and goal of Assessment and Testing is to offer a broad range of testing services to the MSU Denver student body. All first-time college students are required to take a series of exams before registering for their first-semester classes if their ACT or SAT scores are below departmental cutoff scores. Transfer and adult students are also required to take one or all of the exams if they do not have appropriate transfer credits. The exams measure college entry-level skills in reading, writing and mathematics and MUST be done before coming to Orientation.

The Access Center for Disability Accommodations and Adaptive Technology

The Access Center is the designated office that maintains disability-related documents, determines eligibility for academic accommodations, determines reasonable accommodations and develops plans for the provision of such accommodations for students attending MSU Denver.

Campus Tour/Map

Campus tours are offered Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 10:00 a.m. and Tuesdays and Thursdays at 2:00 p.m. (except on major holidays). The tours are led by current MSU Denver students and last 60 - 90 minutes. Please call the Office of Admissions at 303-556-3058 to reserve your place on one of our tours. You may also meet with an admissions counselor before or after your tour.

Financial Aid

The Office of Financial Aid assists MSU Denver students in receiving aid to attend college. Aid comes in many types: grants, loans, scholarships, and work study. Short-term loans serve as a crucial financial bridge to students awaiting their financial aid checks at the beginning of each semester.

Immunization

All students attending MSU Denver are required to show proof of MMR immunizations. All students bornAFTER January 1, 1957 must be immunized with two rubella (measles), two rubella (German measles), two mumps OR two combination MMR. All students born BEFORE January 1, 1957 must be immunized with one rubella (measles), one rubella (German measles), one mumps OR one combination MMR.

Student Health and Insurance

MSU Denver requires students enrolled in 10+ credit hours in the Fall and Spring semester or 8+ credit hours for Summer to have health insurance.  If you do not have your own it will be automatically provided to you through Metro State.

MSU Denver Student Activities is a place where you can GET INVOLVED & LEARN MORE!  Did you know that students who get involved on campus get better grades and graduate sooner than non-involved students?  It’s true!
