Orientation Course Information
All Metro State faculty, including tenured/tenure track, full-time, and part-time have access to the training materials and programs for Blackboard Vista. The implementation of Blackboard Vista is an opportunity for all faculty to improve their online courses by adding new online features after increasing their understanding of the technology tools. In addition to the technology tools, the training also focuses on online course pedagogy.
The implementation and training programs begin with Blackboard Vista Orientation. The orientation provides an overview of the basic tools available in Vista and helps faculty to become familiar with the look and feel of the system. Blackboard Vista is an upgrade from the current version Blackboard Vista CE; many of the features will be familiar but there are improvements that will be introduced through the orientation. All faculty teaching online in the Spring '08 semester were required to complete the orientation.
All faculty, regardless of whether they are teaching online, are welcome to complete the orientation.
Blackboard Vista orientation is presented in a self-paced online course. Faculty will be able to access the orientation, work through the material and implement what they have learned in a practice course. The time to complete the orientation varies with level of experience; most experienced faculty can complete the orientation in less than three hours.
Certification Program
Faculty who have completed the orientation process can begin the new Online Certification Program.
