Online Degree Approval from HLC
Online courses are in high demand as are online degree programs, which allow students to complete their major coursework using online learning. As departments recognize the need for new online degree or certificate programs, they are encouraged to speak with their Dean and the Director of Online Learning to establish a strategy for establishing the new online program.
The strategy discussion will focus on identifying the department's current online assets and what would be needed to facilitate the program. In addition, demand from student populations must also be recognizable early in the process. The process of establishing a new online certificate or degree program typically requires 18-24 months with significant input from lead faculty in the department.
