Organization

 

The Office of Sponsored Research and Programs:

 

  • Is managed and supervised by the Executive Director of the Office of Sponsored Research and Programs, who has signatory authority for all proposal submissions and grant and contract renewals;
  • Reports to the Vice President of Advancement and External Relations who reports to the President of Metropolitan State University of Denver;
  • Is advised by the OSRP Council represented by grant and contract recipients, faculty, staff and administration who serve at the discretion of the Executive Director;
  • Operates according to the Institutional Policies and Procedures Pertaining to Grants and Contractsas adopted by the Board of Trustees of Metropolitan State University of Denver.

 

 Services

 Research ManagementResearch

  • Provide template for prospective PIs to capture project ideas to guide prospect research
  • Conduct prospect research on public and private funding opportunities for faculty, staff, and students as well as for University strategic initiatives
  • Produce and disseminate customized Funding Opportunities Research Reports
  • Perform information searches on specific funders, including giving history, abstracts of similar funded projects, and tracking deadlines and updates
  • Manage COS Pivot database, tag and track records, and set up automatic searches
  • Provide group and one-on-one trainings on COS Pivot to assist faculty, staff, and students in conducting their own prospect research
  • Conduct research in other areas of need to the University, as requested

Proposal Development –Proposal Development

  • Conduct introductory meetings with prospective PIs to discuss their ideas and recommend next steps
  • Consult with PI and proposal development team regarding RFP specifications
  • Ensure requirements of funding agency and institutional policies are being met throughout proposal development process
  • Provide technical support in proposal writing, including demographic/statistical information, institutional documentation, literature reviews, bibliographies, logic models, and charts and tables
  • Edit and proofread proposal documents
  • Assist in preparation of project budgets
  • Coordinate internal proposal review process and submission authorizations
  • Submit final proposals to funding agency as the Authorized Organizational Representative (AOR)

 Grants and Contracts Management Grants and Contracts

  • Ensure proposals and contracts are in compliance with university policies and procedures, federal and state regulations, and funder guidelines
  • Ensure receipt and proper dissemination of awards and contracts
  • Create and maintain records for documenting and reporting grant activity
  • Assist with budget negotiations and revisions
  • Ensure awards and contracts are managed in compliance with government regulations
  • Assist with requests for renewals, continuations, and no-cost extensions
  • Ensure timely and accurate submission of technical reports and close-out documents

Technical Services Administration –Technical Services

  • Create and maintain database system used for hosting OSRP database and Server network
  • Perform research and provide decisions or recommendations regarding the implementation of software and hardware
  • Provide one on one or phone training to faculty on accessing or using specific resources on the departmental network
  • Maintain OSRP website and implement changes to improve navigation

Events

The Office of Sponsored Research and Programs is committed to providing faculty and staff with training, seminar and workshop opportunities to enrich knowledge of the grant/contract research, development and submission processes.

Webinars

Seminars and webinars are provided both internally and externally. In collaboration with the Community of Sciences (COS) and other associations, opportunities are available to attend webinars which relate to selected live conference calls with both leaders and program directors for many public funded grant programs, as well as trainings.

The Executive Director of the OSRP presents a series of Grant Writing workshops and the Grant Mentoring Program, a opportunity for new grant writers to work with a seasoned PI to develop a proposal.

Workshops

Small group workshops are being developed by the OSRP to provide PIs and other proposal developers the opportunity to meet with the OSRP staff and potential partners for collaborative relationships.
