President's Charge

On November 9, 2009 , President Jordan charged Metro State’s 2010 Campus Climate Survey Committee with developing and administering the employee and student Campus Climate Surveys and then, as a result of information gathered, developing implementation strategies for improving the work environment at the College.
Want to help make Metro State an even better place to work? We’d like to hear from you about what’s working and what’s not, so we can improve the work environment at Metro State.

Metro State’s 2010 Campus Climate Survey will survey all faculty and staff, and a sample of 3,600 students, to appraise the general work environment and current climate toward diversity at Metro State. The confidential online survey, to be held February 1-15, is an opportunity for all faculty and staff members to share their opinions to effect change in any areas that may need to be addressed.

The survey will solicit opinions broadly related to the overall campus climate:
  • job satisfaction and support from the institution
  • participation in College governance
  • attitudes toward diversity
  • feeling of comfort and belonging
  • treatment by various groups
  • inclusiveness of our workforce with regard to multiple identity groups (e.g., age, race, gender, ethnicity, national origin, disabilities, sexual orientation, religion, as well as intellectual differences)
  • internal communication
  • career development, research and scholarship
  • other related issues
The student survey will garner the student population’s perspective on the campus climate at Metro State and will be considered in implementing any future changes. Both the employee and student surveys are considered essential for the College to move forward with goal four of its Strategic Plan: to embrace diversity and be a leader in creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for all members of the Metro State community.

Results from the survey will be complete by April 2010 and shared with the campus community at that time.
