Information for Parents
What we’d like you to know about Metro State is simply this.
Who We Are
Metro State is a comprehensive four-year college, offering a wide variety of degrees in both traditional and emerging fields:
Where We Are
Metro State is located on the Auraria Campus in downtown Denver, just west of Speer Boulevard between Colfax Avenue and Auraria Parkway.
We also offer classes at two other campuses, as well as many online course options:
Metro North, Northglenn
11990 Grant St.
Metro South, Denver Tech Center
5660 Greenwood Plaza Blvd.
How We Measure Our Success
We believe in academic excellence that’s rooted in relevant, practical and individualized college and work experiences. Your child will succeed at Metro State. More importantly, we want them to succeed in life, too. See, we measure our impact not just by how well we serve students but also by how all of us together can serve our broader communities today and in the future.
We understand the college decision is primarily about your son or daughter. We’re excited to have your family join the Metro State family. Together, we can create ripples of impact that will make Denver and the surrounding communities a better, more promising place to live, work and play.
How We Define an Urban Education
Students need not just an “education” as it’s so often narrowly defined at more traditional colleges, but they need a broad college experience that encompasses diversity in its truest sense:
- A variety of academic choices
- People of different ages and backgrounds
- Values from different cultures and religions
- Experiences from all economic sectors
- Opportunities big and small
- Influence beyond oneself and into the communities where all of us live, work and volunteer
Urban enrichment means a lot to us. Because we educate local talent, Denver isn’t just our spot on the map. It’s our home.
Why Value and Quality Matter
For us, value and quality go hand in hand to create a college experience where every hour and dollar feel wisely spent. We’re proud to offer both the amazing opportunities of being one of the largest public four-year colleges in the United States and the personalized attention your son or daughter needs:
- Small, intimate classes
- Accessible professors
- Career-oriented mentoring
- Networking for post-graduation success and support
