Frequently Asked Questions

Transfer

Where do I get a transcript evaluation completed upon transferring to MSCD?

The Office of Transfer Service, SSB 180, 303-556-3774.

For admitted students, a transfer credit evaluation is performed within two to five days after your official transcripts are received by the Office of Admissions. Shortly thereafter, you will receive two copies of the transfer credit evaluation, which you should then take to your major and minor departments for advice on how some credits might apply to the programs.

Remember, coursework at other institutions may or may not be transferable. Some general guidelines include:

  • Credit must be earned from a fully accredited institution
  • Courses with “D” or “F” will not be accepted
  • Course content must be similar to courses offered at MSU Denver
  • You may transfer a maximum of 64 semester hours from two-year (community college) institutions, or a maximum of 90 semester hours from a four-year institution, or a combination of two- and four-year colleges

If you have earned an A.A. or A.S. degree, you will receive junior status at MSU Denver, provided all courses included in the degree are “C” or better, and, based on a course-by-course evaluation, meet minimum MSU Denver transfer credit standards. (You may need to complete additional lower-division requirements.)

If you have completed the Colorado core curriculum, as certified on your community college transcript, you will have met MSU Denver’s minimum General Studies requirements. Certain degree programs may require additional specific lower division courses.

If you would like an unofficial transfer evaluation of your transfer credits to help you in your academic planning, you may contact Transfer Counselors in the Transfer Services office at 303-556-3774, Student Success Building 180.
