Connect to Rowdy
After your Rowdy account has been activated you will have several options of connecting to Rowdy.
Connect Using FTP
To create a more secure environment, and prevent potential security problems that occur when things like passwords are transmitted across the internet as plain text, FTP (File Transfer Protocol) connections to Rowdy have been disabled by Information Technology. However, SFTP (Secure File Transfer Protocol) may be used. See Connect Using FileZilla for more information about configuring an SFTP connection.
Connect Using Telnet
To create a more secure environment, and prevent potential security problems that occur when things like passwords are transmitted across the internet as plain text, Telnet connections to Rowdy have been disabled by Information Technology. However, the SSH (Secure Shell) protocol may be used instead. See Connect Using Putty for more information about configuring an SSH connection.
Connect Using Putty (via SSH)
Putty is a one of many free SSH client for Windows and Linux workstations used to access UNIX/Linix systems such as Rowdy. If you are using a Mac, please see Connect Using Mac Terminal.

Connect Using FileZilla (via SFTP)
FileZilla is a one of many free SFTP clients for Windows, Linux and Mac workstations and is used to transfer files between your local workstation and UNIX/Linux systems such as Rowdy.
