Services Provided to Metro Scholars
Metro Scholars Program Model
The Metro Scholars Program model consists of three components: academic, leadership, and resources. The components of the model are as follows:
Academic/Social Development

Identify future goals (career or graduate school)

Prepare students for career or graduate school

Encourage students to participate in activities which build their resume

1 on 1 individualized attention from program staff

Prepare students to graduate (CAPP reports, Graduation Plans, and deadlines)
Leadership Development

Academic support services
Individual Support: Each program participant is required to attend a one-on-one counseling session at least once a semester. Each student will receive the following one-on-one services:

Academic Advising and Support - Each student is advised to determine the best classes to take only if they are not major or minor classes. (Students who have selected a major and or minor are encouraged to visit an advisor within their department.)

Personal Counseling - The staff members provide counseling to the students to assist them with various issues that arise from college life.
- Financial Aid Advising - Students are provided with counseling to complete their financial aid forms.
- Referrals - Students are referred to other departments as needed.
