History
Currently, Metropolitan State University of Denver (MSU Denver) students who test below college level in math, reading, and English can take developmental classes. These classes are taught by the Community College of Denver as part of a partnership with MSU Denver. If students complete the classes on time and with satisfactory grades (C or higher) they can continue at MSU Denver in college level class work.
The Quick Start (QS) program was implemented in the fall semester of the 2010 at MSU Denver in order to help students’ complete developmental classes at a quicker pace. The QS program was developed as a rigorous hybrid class that put the fundamentals of the 060 and the 090 class levels into a single semester.
As part of the QS program, a student has class sessions, internet learning modules, and tutoring services to help them move through the lesson plans. This makes the time a student has to achieve college readiness a full semester shorter. In theory, the University believes that this shorter duration of time will keep students interested in attending MSU Denver and persist from semester to semester.
Mission of the Quick Start Program:The Mission of the Quick Start Program is to provide academic and personal support services to program participants so students acquire the skills necessary to be successful in college level classes at the Metropolitan State University of Denver.
