Personal Biography Statement
I graduated from The University of Southern California in 1988 (Go Trojans!). Teaching Philosophy
My personal philosophy and vision of teaching is twofold. First, I embark on the task of teaching as a believer in the student's (yours) capacity to embrace their highest potential, their desire to acquire academic knowledge and the ability to develop new skills in the field of social work. Second, I integrate the social work framework as a part of my understanding of the student's behavior and their responsibilities. I see my role as a facilitator of critical thinking and as a provider of expertise. However, I feel that the students must own their learning and embrace a process that at times may feel cumbersome and overwhelming. I expect my students to be curious about the world they live in, to explore different ways of approaching a changing environment and to apply the ethics and values of the social work profession to their classroom and professional behavior.
