Personal Biography Statement
I grew up in a small town outside of Ann Arbor in Michigan and came to love nature, plants in particular, as a Boy Scout. I got a B.S. in Botany and Plant Pathology from Michigan State University and went on to pursue a Ph.D. from the University of Colorado at Boulder. My graduate work was on the developmental dynamics and carbon allocation dynamics of Alpine Avens on Niwot Ridge.
Research Areas/Interests
I am interested in developmental patterns in plants that allow them to survive in extreme climates. I want to understand how small changes in development can result in large morphological differences and how these changes shape the evolution of plant populations.
