Personal Biography Statement

My name is Donna Cohen. I'm originally from Ohio, but I now live in Denver, Colorado, with my husband, Steve, a technical writer, and Peanut, our Apricot Minipoo, whose main job is chasing deer and rabbits out of our back yard. I live on what a friend once called "the toenails of the foothills" of the Front Range.

I have a B.S. in Education and an M.A. in English from Bowling Green State University in Ohio. I have also taken courses in Architectural Engineering, Computer Science, Art, Jewelry and Metalwork.

I have taught for many years and have been a tech writer and editor since 1981. My experience in the tech writing and editing fields in Colorado has included: software documentation, robotics, test procedures, flight training, safety and emergency procedures, product construction from kits, video script writing, and a lot of DOD and DOE proposals.

A couple of years ago I decided to get back into teaching, but in a different way--online. I took my first online course at a local community college, liked the whole idea, and here I am! I enjoy being a night owl, and I especially enjoy knowing that when we have a foot of snow in Denver, I won't have to go anywhere!

In addition to teaching online, I do private tutoring and editing. My favorite pastimes are jewelry making, reading, and hiking in the foothills with Steve and Peanut.
