Personal Biography Statement

I am the academic advisor for all Behavioral Science majors. I also provide general advising for anthropology and sociology majors/minors.
My primary objective is to provide my students with solid advice on course selection and guidance in finding the best career choice for them.

As an anthropologistand affiliate professor, my research has focused on the indigenous people of the Americas. I have conducted cultural field research on urban powwows as a form of cultural preservation for Native Americans and archaeological field research at the classic period Maya site of Blue Creek in Belize. I am extremely interested in globalization and its affect on indigenous people and in gender relations in both contemporary and ancient societies. I teach Introduction to Cultural Anthropology, Understanding Cultures and Ancient American Civilizations.
