Personal Biography Statement

Jacob Calm grew up in New England. He has followed two career paths. Initially after receiving his first Bachelors degree in humanities with a focus on literature, philosophy and history, he taught in a high school in the Middle East. After nine years, he returned to college as an adult learner at Metropolitan State College to earn a second degree in Information Technology.

He “came through the ranks” as a software developer in a variety of industries with firms that include Lockheed Martin, Cendant, First Data, Dish/Echostar. For the past 14 years he has worked as a technical software Project Manager. He has extensive experience with Waterfall, RUP and Agile project management methodologies. He has worked with matrixed, distributed virtual teams. His projects often require on-shore and off-shore outsourcing solutions. Jacob’s Project Management role requires intensive and extensive interfacing between large corporate Marketing, Finance, IT and Logistics teams.

Most recently, he has worked in the satellite and cable broadcast industry supporting complex telecommunications applications. One international project launched the first commercial satellite provider in Taiwan. Currently he works at a start-up firm developing interactive TV advertising applications.
