Personal Biography Statement
For me, joy in living evolves from finding meaning in my work. In that way, I have been truly blessed. I began my professional career as a Registered Nurse which provided me with the rare opportunity to be involved with individuals' at the most intimate moments of their lives. The masters in education led me to move from clinical nursing into teaching nursing and from there into teaching holistic health and integrative therapies at the college level. Over the past decade, I developed the BS in Integrative Therapies program at MSCD, the first of it's kind in the U.S. In my role at Metro, I have the opportunity to assist individuals in the search for their own ideal of health. I love teaching and love the students at Metro. They are hardworking, interesting, and diverse individuals, and I really enjoy getting to know them. I am a full Professor and the Coordinator of the Integrative Therapeutic Practices program. I have received many teaching awards including Outstanding Online Educator (2001), Teacher of the Year for the School of Professional Studies (2004), Outstanding Teacher from Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority (2003-2004), and Advisor of the Year for the School of Professional Studies (2005 & 2007). When not teaching, I'm usually outside working in my garden, reading, playing Sudoku, or relaxing at my cabin in the mountains.
