Personal Biography Statement
I have a passion for my family, for good food, writing, reading, and travel. I thoroughly enjoy teaching. Some of my life philosophies are gently, forcefully, eloquently noted here: Ernest Hemingway said,"I would stand and look out over the roofs of Paris and think, 'Do not worry. You have always written before and you will write now. All you have to do is write one true sentence. Write the truest sentence that you know.'" One of those sentences read, "I have stood on the crowded back platform of a seven o'clock bus as it lurched along the wet lamp lit street while men who were going home to supper never looked up from their newspapers as we passed Notre Dame grey and dripping in the rain." It is writing the truest sentence, reading the most perfect story, learning from the learned, and collecting the most vivid memories through experiences, dreams, discussions and friendships that make life interesting and worthwhile. Isak Dinesen said, “The cure for anything is salt water—sweat, tears, or the sea.” And Eleanor Roosevelt noted: "The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams." And Joan Didion added, "I write to discover what I think."
